Yes, we always had Spock for that, and Spock was a huge cultural icon back then, just huge. A lot of women found him sexy, because he was clearly "the unattainable". This made him super-desirable. Could they and only they break through his coldly logical reserve????? Shatner, on the other hand, was eminently obtainable, and made no bones about showing it at every possible opportunity. (That last remark was not a dig at De Forrest Kelly, but it could have been.) Only a woman who was totally desperate could fall for Kelly, in my opinion. Then there was Scotty, everyone's bad cliche of a Scot. Interesting bunch of stereotypes there. Uhura was the first black woman to hold a notable position of responsibility in a TV drama series. Another point in favor of Star Trek as an innovative show.
