Thread Name: Lyr Req: Melville Castle
Subject: Lyr Req: Melville Castle
Can anyone supply me with the lyrics to the Scottish ballad, called "Willy's Gone to Melville Castle," or perhaps just "Melville Castle?" I don't find anything in a search of the DT or Lyrics. (Is it there with a different title?) The chorus goes:

Willy's gan tae Melville Castle,
Boots and spurs and a',
Tae bid the lassies a' fareweel
Before he gaes awa'.

Willy's young and blyth and bonny,
Lood by one and a'
Oh, wha wi' a' the lassies dee
When Willy gaes awa'?

(Please pardon any incorrect spelling of Scottish dialect!) :-)

The verses refer to several of the "lasses" - Lady Jane, Lady Grace, etc.
