Going back to the OP's point about the kid playing on a gameboy, it's possible he was dragged along by the parents who couldn't get a baby sitter. A pity they didn't encourage him to watch - but you did say he was a teenager ;-)

I once saw a kid occupying an expensive seat at an important soccer game (brought by his dad sat next to him) - he did the same thing, and I couldn't help thinking about all those people who couldn't get tickets for the game :(
