Thread Name: Origins: White Cockade
Subject: RE: White Cockade
We may not have things figured out right yet about the origin of this tune title. I have an old piece of sheet music from Colonial Williamsburg. It is "The White Cockade". On it it is stated that 'the tune was played by two fifers from Acton, Massachusetts, during the battle of Concord Bridge'. This was on April 19, 1755. Does anyone know the precise origin of this statement, or exactly what the original source stated? Does anyone have acccess to someone in the song library at Colonial Williamsburg.?
