I stumbled across this old thread and sadly discovered that my old friend Bernie Asbell died 5 years ago... I knew him in the late 70's in New Haven, CT. He would occasionally take out a guitar and sing a few songs at Mensa gatherings, and laughingly talked about his old poster from his early foray into folk music. It proclaimed BERNIE ASBELL, singer-songwriter in large letters, and then down at the bottom in small letters also mentioned Pete Seeger! He wrote many books, and often said that he wanted to someday write a book about Queen Isabella. I wonder if he ever did.

Bernie's son Jon is a friend and a fine musician (among other things) and is going to sit in with our band ShoreGrass this coming Saturday, playing Dobro.
