One day a friend came for a visit accompanied by her black Lab. The instant I opened the door, my little cat shot out and sank a pawful of claws straight into the dog's unsuspecting and sensitive nose. That dog never wanted to come see us again.

We'll never know what would have ensued had we not been there, but it's quite likely that the dog would have skedaddled. I wonder if the cat in the news had done that to the bear.

I also wonder whether the bear (which looks young) had been frightened by something else (dog, human, siren, car) and the cat was merely at the base of the tree making scientific observations.
