Have to agree with Betsy here. The Middlesbrough-Whitby train route is one of the most picturesque in the UK - it goes right over the North York Moors. An even prettier diversion would have been to take a day or two out on the North York Moors while you're here - there are buses and trains that will take you out there from Whitby.

Whitby is very pretty and the festival is wonderful! I've booked a week there myself. You'll enjoy your stay.
