Thread Name: How do you like your satellite radio?
Subject: RE: How do you like your satellite radio?
My stockbroker doesn't listen to much radio, but I do. I love XM! It can be a bit pricey to setup, depending on how you like to listen. Expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $100 or more for a receiver you can use in your car and/or home. XM has a lot of choices, too many to describe here, but I would be happy to answer any specific questions. Go to their website at www.xmradio.com for more details.

Of the two services, XM is the only one that continues to offer a "folk" channel - The Village. The music is diverse, they offer Rich Warren's "Midnight Special" which is worth the subscription price alone. Christine Lavin does occasional shows, as do others. Mostly it is great music.

Bob Dylan does a really entertaining weekly show called "The Theme Time Radio Hour". It is surprising how much fun it is to listen to.

Great sports. If you like baseball, XM is the place. I also enjoy their 60's channel, which recreates sounds of the stations I grew up listening to - with a very diverse playlist. I also enjoy their Old Time Radio Channel, my wife loves a channel that features The Satellite Sisters on a daily show. I also listen to the bluegrass channel as well as the reggae channel.

Sirius offers similar programs, but my choice was XM for many of the reasons I mentioned above.

Don't worry about stock brokers. While it may not turn into the next Microsoft for investors, satellite radio is here to stay. Both operations appear to have a sound business plan and they will make it.
