Greg,

You're still as clueless as you ever have been. I am not the aforementioned "Guest".

But I will answer Ron's question.

This isn't just a yes or no question.

1. Yes, they entered the country illegaly.

2. They broke the laws of the USA.

3. They should be punished for breaking our law.

But this leaves some things unanswered.

Let's just leave out the economical impact this will have on the economy of the southwest and California for now. Let's deal with the individual aspect for a moment.

Some of these IA's have been in the country undetected for years. Some have even been under the radar long enough to start families and have children that are born on our soil. Their children are US citizens. Would it make sense to send back one or both of their parents? No. Especially if their only means of support was from an illegal parent.

So, I propose this.

Those with unbreakable but verifiable ties to this country (such as children born on our soil WHILE THEY WERE ALREADY HERE) be given the opportunity to start the trek to citizenship as long as they have broken no other laws other than illegaly crossing the border. I would be fine with their punishment for breaking that law be a fine ($1000-2000) with half of the monies collected to go into a special fund to help collectively pay any fees associated with all others in the same situation that are on the trek to citizenship. The other half of the fine would go to put a dent in the back taxes that may be owed from them not having ever paid any type of payroll taxes. I'd even be ok with letting them pay it out if need be. (See....I'm compassionate.)

But the rest...round 'em up and send them back.

I don't care if it does cause lettuce to go to $7/head. I don't eat it that much anyhow.
