When travelling by air with a guitar, I pad the case with underpants, socks and a tee-shirt or two so the guitar fits very snugly. When the lid is latched shut, I wrap duct tape around the neck and body to keep it closed if all else fails, and to protect the latches. The roll of duct tape gets packed in my suitcase, and I repeat the performance to come home.
