I was JUST reminded about the proclivity of many in the military these days to refer to a group of themselves as a 'contingency' rather than as a 'contingent'. (I think I mentioned this in another thread of this type)

I have heard this 7-8 times and want to reach through the TV screen and shake them until their collective heads rattle.
