The skipper strolls slowly back toward the firelight, his heart full and calm for the first time in many months, his pipe gently signalling heaven and his feet stumbling slowly toward the quarterdeck. Night winds carry the wild jigs and happy laughs to him from the beach, and he smiles joyfully to hear it; then nodding, climbs the gangplank and disappears below the decks of the quiet, lovely Mudcat schooner he so loves.
