Bonnie Raitt credits her version to Mississippi Fred - she combined it with another of his songs, "Write Me a Few of Your Lines". Bonnie Raitt has been very good about crediting her sources (unlike some big-time performers like Dylan) - she would frequently tour with Fred McDowell and Sippie Wallace while they were still alive, introducing them as the original masters to whole new audiences. I liked her music better when she was doing more blues than rock, but she's one classy lady.
