I have relatives in Puerto Rico and i can tell you for a fact there is no way they want independence from the US - because of all the subsidies. These subsidies are put into the infrastructure of the islands.

Unlike the Domenican republic where the US has fiscally annexed off the real islanders whilst catering for it's own greedy over rich consortiums.
