Thanks for posting those chords! I love "The Mikado". Has anyone seen the brilliant film "Topsy Turvy" about the creation of this particular operetta? Fictionalized to within an inch of its life, I'm sure, but a great, fun movie. (It's best suited to theatre geeks, though...filmgoers more used to Hollywood pacing will wonder, "Why are we spending ten minutes watching the actors fumble their lines at rehearsal?")

The best thing about it is that they found actors who were both brilliant in their roles and could SING THEIR OWN PARTS!!! Shirley Henderson's rendition of "The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze" stuck firmly in my head for weeks. And the casting of Gilbert and Sullivan themselves, as well as their respective inamoratae (is that how you pluralize that word?) was just perfect. Seeing Jim Broadbent as the sleazy promoter in "Little Voice" and then seeing him as the ultra-prim and proper, melancholy Gilbert made me realize just what a brilliant actor he is.

OK, I'll stop rhapsodizing now. But see the film!
