Here in the southeast USA we are having a cool snap--temps under 88 F. during the day. August is usually our hottest, driest month. (but it isn't anything as hot as down in Texas where SRS lives.) It is the shorter day-lengths, and not cooler temps that tell fall flowers to start to bud, and herald in the beginning of the fall garden season.

Hope you have a delightful spring Down Under, John. Maybe it won't be as dry as you fear. It wasn't here, I was pleasantly surprised to experience.
