Subject: Judy Cook
Hi, Mary - I'll vouch for Judy Cook's singing. I met her at several Folklore Society of Greater Washington gatherings when I was working in DC last year in March, and I saw her again at the Getaway in October. She has one heck of a powerful voice, and her interpretation of songs is excellent. You can learn a bit more about her at her Website (click). I first heard "My God He Is A Rock" and A Mother's Last Words to her Daughter and DWELLING IN BEULAH LAND from her, and I've added all three to my repertoire. I also like her renditions of THE PRICKILIE BUSH and CHICKENS IN THE GARDEN.
Judy has a nice CD out, and it's available from Folk-Legacy and Camsco. Unfortunately, it doesn't have any of those five songs that I liked so much - but she says she has a second CD coming out.
If you look at about the Digital Tradition, you'll see that Judy's husband Dennis Cook was one of the original contributors to our database.
