Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Maid of Islay (Iain MacDonald)
Subject: The Maid Of?? By Ian McDonald?
I found an old tape of some Thistle & Shamrock episodes that I taped a few years ago, and on one there's a song that I'd love to add to my show.. but the tape is such cruddy quality now that a lot of the lyrics are nearly incomprehensible...

But I believe it starts something like...

By the bright fires of winter with a brandy filled glass
Jolly Jack Tarr has retuned home at last
His sea-legs they twitch and his hands never still
A lifetime of sailing...
He'll never have his fill

He crossed the wild oceans his father had seen
Signed on for sailing when barely 14
In every harbour and in every small quay?
Dan saw the changes...
Rung loud and clear

?????

Can anyone hook me up here??? If I can't get this song out of my head soon, I may explode!!

Take ye Care Eh!
