I am sorry to see Mother sleeping
On such a pleasant day
The lamb-wool clouds are sweeping
Across the broad sky-way
The sun is gaily calling
RInging from every glen,
"Come out! The elaves are falling!
And won't be back again!"
But Mother must be tired
Perhaps he back is sore
From carrying ever forward
Ten thousands posts and more.
Perhaps her heart is weary
With woes she private keeps.
But, I wish she were more cheery,
I am sad to see her sleep.
