I just watched a Lawrence Welk show on PBS in which they do a tribute to "sweet bands". They performed "shanty" with the uptempo counter melody. I haven't heard it in 40 years and wondered if I'd ever hear it again. Now, thanks to this blog I have the lyrics to it an I am now on a mission to find a recording of it.
