Suicide has long been one of the leading causes of death amongst young men. The other major contender, War, has dropped away thanks to professional armies.

Thus is from a Western perspective. US combat casulties in the last 3 years have been what, 2000 or so. Suicide rate amongs US young males is going to be way over that....
