Sometimes humour is as valid a way of coping with unpleasant information as any other.

And besides, in a "democracy" where your choices are limited as much as they are, you can do everything only to see it have no real impact, and then maybe you might decide to come and unwind at the mudcat to sigh and shake your head for a bit befor getting a good nights sleep in anticipation of the day ahead of you.
