Where do you work? Perhaps there is a pool that people can donate sick leave to? We have one at the university where I work, and I was able to get a few hours from there when I had a lengthy absense after surgery a few years ago. Our sick leave works for the employee or when we have to care for an immediate family member (I took my sick leave most of this week to stay with my daughter who was in the hospital). It might be worth checking out.
