You didn't mention a flammable liquid. Do you set the pancakes themselves on fire? I did that once, and boy did I catch it from my mother! I was cooking the pancakes in grease (bach then such things didn't harm your health) and the next thing I knew flames were shooting up. Didn't do any damage beyond the pancakes and having to repaint the kitchen ceiling; she never let me do it again, either, no matter how hard we pled.
