I think a true musician is one who is able to use the music as a conduit to link souls. Someone who can make the audience feel their feelings by what they play and how they play it. The technical skills to facilitate this communication can be learned, but I have heard unschooled singers and players that can touch my heart and soul far better than some very technically proficient players.
