Yeah, I always thought it was a silly expression for the same reason. In any case, why reduce everything in life to its crudest possible expression? Isn't that the ideal of 12-year-old boys who are trying to prove themselves to their peers and upset their parents at the same time? Lord, don't I remember it! Junior high school was like a living hell.
