There are also some good tutors out there. A music/instrument shop with a bit of self respect should be able to provide. If they don't have any books in store, ask them to order one for you. One I can recommend (it's the only one I know of!) is Mel Bay's Complete Irish Tin Whistle Book. Lots of hints and help, and a lot of nice well-known tunes. Ths ISBN number is : ISBN 0-7866-2318-7. Personally, I think learning by ear is a good way to go about it. Find tunes that aren't too fast to begin with, and move on to the faster ones as you get better. That way you will hear what the grace notes sound like, and you get a better "feel" for the music.
