The last time we were in Colorado, we went up to Rocky Mountain National Park to see the elk and hiked one of the circular trails. My brother wanted to hike a second one but I was having a hard time keeping up with him because we were not longer used to the altitude (and because he's seven inches taller than I am and takes half as many steps) so I decided to go back down to Estes Park and Christmas shop. I said I'd pick him up at the trail head in two hours.

An hour and fifteen minutes later, I was sitting in the car checking a town map when there was a knock on the window. It was my brother. He had seen fresh mountain lion tracks and not only finished the trail but hiked all the way back to town in what must have been record time.

Never did see the mountain lion but, like I said, we'd rather not tempt fate.
