Breezy, your discription of the road reminded me of one road on the westside of the San Juaquin aways from a little town called Wasco. On the Maps these days it's called (PC, enough) "Brown Material" Road but all the locals still call it by it's original name!

And that reminds me of the sensibilities of the Tendertooties on some other outstanding names. There is a row of evenly uplifted hills where Hwy. 20 enters the Coastal Range called "Sqaws' Tits" and down by Lake Isabella up Kern River Canyon are a pair of peaks called "Nellie's Tits". Come to think of it Grand Tetons is French for "Big Tits". Those early comers were sure a nostalgic lot, weren't they? Then there's the Gros Vent River (pronounced "Grow Vaunt") named after the Gros Vent Indians. The name means "Fat Belly". Then there was Hang Town, Whisky Flats, Tom's Place and many other colorful names, some of which still remain. City folk haven't gotten their sensibilities wrapped around those yet.
