I second punkfolkrocker's suggestion. Audiences want performances to appear either spontaneous or well-planned, and conspicuously peeking at a setlist taped to an instrument during a set tells them that yours is neither. On the other hand, you can glance at a large-print list taped to the floor or a monitor without anyone noticing.
