For each quart of chestnuts you need a small roasting pan, a match, and one cup of gasoline. Put the nuts in the pan, cover in gas, ignite with match from a suitable distance.

Flame temperature should reach 475 degrees. When flames are all gone, allow the nuts to cool and then discard them into a rubbish container.
