Mrs. Bee and I had one of those 2:30 AM alarms at a hotel we stayed in this past October. The alarm had one of those "modern" tones instead of a good old-fashioned fire sireeeeen, and it wasn't really all that loud. In our sleep-disoriented states we thought it was the bedside alarm clock going off and started beatin' hell out of the thing trying to get it to shut up. By the time we realized it was a fire alarm, we would have been dead if it had been a real fire instead of just some idiot smoking in the hallway.
