Exactly, Jacqui. And yet we are also probably the most boorish bunch on the planet with anything other than S.E.X. Go figure. My favorite expression referring to the toilet is from my grandmother...she used to say she had to "pay the water bill". I couldn't for the life of me figure out how water could be so expensive that she had the pay the bill several times each day!
