The Beckhams have had a lot of bad press ,but they DONT make any silly claims to be God's gift ! They play up to the 'Thick' image quite a bit , and can you blame them for taking the money they've been offered ? And David was at least a VERY Sporting player , even as (especially as ) England captain !
