For a while the series NYPD blue was notorious for buttocks-shots.
As well as regular use of 'colorful' language. ('Asshole' was
common, as well as phrases like 'up in Ossining getting accu-
puncture up his dirt-chute.)

It was on regular network TV. Now, in reruns on the cable-only
Turner Network they've gotten rid of the both the buns and the
colorful language, which kind of blunts much of the humor.

In common with other TV programs and movies set in New York, it
seems that everyone in it can afford either a loft or a place
with three bedrooms and 1800 square feet. Wait until you see
REAL New York apartments that the average middle-class person
can afford! Anything from the movie Single White Female to
Seinfeld, to the Odd Couple, all the way back to I Love Lucy---
lots of space. Now 'The Honeymooners,' that place was more
like reality!

As to curtains--- when I bought my condo (which happens to be
1800 square feet) out in Bucks County, PA, I promptly pulled
down all of the expensive curtains that the prior owner had
installed, replacing them with various sorts of blinds and
valances. There's a decorative curtain in the dining room
and one in the guest room. That's it. Then again, I'm a guy.

Interesting statistic, though: more telescopes are sold
per capita in Manhattan than anywhere else. So there
clearly is some peeking going on.
