Ebbie, I think the Poms use the term "hosepipe" to describe what we (in OZ) call a hose. To Poms with an ancient dress sense (or a sense of ancient dress, which includes those who sing songs from before 1900) "hose" could mean a garment you'd put your lower leg into.

And the receptacles posters above are calling "water butts/barrels", most people in OZ would call "tanks"; but we, like yo'all, call tracked armoured vehicles armed with artillery "tanks" too. Very confusing!
