The predominant convenience store chain in our area, a regional chain called Tom Thumb Stores, has been somewhat of a refuge for free airhoses for years. Unfortunately, they were recently bought out by the Kroeger grocery chain, so I wouldn't be surprised to see those free airhoses rounded up and caged in boxes that say "AIR 50¢" before long.
