Seems Britsh Gas have got a once off fixed price for repairiong central heating. Might be worth ringing them and see how much it costs. At the end of the day,although you can't afford it, it may be the cheaper option.
I am willing to send you a donation of a fiver and if a few other mudcatters do that, maybe you might get enough to get the repair done.
