I'd also favor borrowing or buying 2 or 3 space heaters, using NO EXTENSION CORDS with them. I wouldn't dare use candles in your situation as a source of warmth. An electric blanket would also be a good investment. Insulated panels to pop into windows, friction-fit, is also a good idea for conserving heat at night; however, they generally are very flamable.
