I used to go to the Sun sessions when they were bustling a couple of years back and the the most I ever got was 1 ticket for a free pint and I had to rely on the rest of my weekly wages to free my inhibitions. I'm sure by the end of the night I didn't even remember I'd had it! The free drink didn't make any difference. The Monks now is nowhere near as busy and I'm sure they give out a tiny percentage of what they have in other places and it wouldn't be fair on Mick to decide who got a pint and who went without. Mick does a good job and I know people who get paid cash for running sessions. Credit to him that he does it just for a few beers cos he loves being there and he loves his singing.
