The Polkalele, if I recall, was a strange idea someone had. It has an elongated spike for a peghead, so it can be stuck into the sand on the beach, of all things. It's sort of banana-shaped, if it's the instrument I'm thinking of, and actually was a decent instrument, at least in terms of build quality, and playability.

If you want to know more about ukes, there are several sites on the Internet. One of the best, to me, is Fleamarket Music.

I have two ukes -- a Weymann soprano and a nameless tenor -- and a banjo uke on its way from the Ebay seller I got it from. I may get another, a Fluke (another brand I like), if I am in the right place at the right time.
