I think that I have never seen
A sight so grand as an aubergine
Reposing gladsome on the sward
Or placed supine on a cutting board
Its glossy skin, its purple flanks
Reflect the lights in my fish tanks
As there it sits too shy to speak
Its grace inherent and so unique
Shall I this unspoiled flesh devour?
Or shall I sit there hour by hour
Entranced by beauty so divine
Ah! Aubergine...wilt thou be mine?
