The DigiTrad entry for "The Faded Coat of Blue" neglects to mention that it was written by J.H. [John Hugh] McNaughton (1829-1891), and published in 1865. It bears the alternate title "The Nameless Grave".

You can find a scan of the original sheet music at the Lester S. Levy site. The sheet music includes an optional repeat of the refrain by a chorus.
