Drone weapons have been in use since the 1940s. The point is that the component cited as part of some sort of super sophisticated exotic deadly subversive superspy lethal plot to destroy commercial airplanes or to use them as weapons has NO PLAUSIBLE APPLICATION IN ANY LIKELY DEVICE OF THAT KIND.

Take the word of an aircraft engineer with 40 YEARS EXPERIENCE in the design, construction, and maintenance of navigation and flight control systems - including a dozen or so drone aircraft, target training vehicles and weapons - including both remote controlled and drone devices.

(I've also done tanks and artillery, and both wheeled and tracked military vehicles on demand - but they're not really much fun.)
