There's an 'r' in "Shorn" which is pronounced in some parts of England (e.g. the West Country; parts of Lancashire), which would mean it was not pronounced exactly the same as "Shaun". In the south-east, though, the 'r' is probably silent, so in that case you are probably correct, McGrath of The South-East :-)
