I think the trick on posts getting eaten is to immediately look to see if the thread moved to the top of the page. Sometimes they just refuse to register the remark, even though it let you appear to send it. I try to check, and if this happens, I can usually back up a few screens, capture the text from the former text box, then open a new browser window and posting the remark in the new text box seems to take care of that.
