If one is going to attack a target, one should know something about it. More that one 'contributor' here sounds like a professional protestor, a know-nothing who will never protest effectively but complains about all 'big' business.

Halliburton is selling off all connection with KBR, the branch that has contracts in Iraq and will go back to servicing the oil business. Its corporate headquarters remains in Houston, but most of their income will be coming from the large area extending from west Africa to the islands north of Japan. It makes sense to place the deal makers and decision makers within this huge region of many opportunities and the people who need their services.

It is the U. S. government that gave KBR a free hand in Iraq and they took it. I have no liking for their methods, but giving any company a free hand during a war is giving them a license to plunder. Formerly, the Corps of Engineers would have handled or supervised many of the jobs, but the government has downsized that important branch through the years and passed out the jobs without proper bidding procedures.

Bobad, you are partly right- Dubai is a stable spot from which to supervise work that extends from West Africa through the Middle East to Russia and the Sakalin Islands north of Japan. Opportunities for service jobs are far fewer in the Americas, where oil sands are the current growth arm of the oil business.
