Don't know squat about the tune, but I do know that St Anne's story (being the virgin mother of the blessed virgin Mary) was made up entirely to continue the veneration of said BVM and she has more churches named for her in UK than St Joseph, husband of the BVM who is actually mentioned in the bible! It was his feast day on Monday and he's the patron saint of workers, a feast transferred from May 1st - that is why that day has always been associated with workers and holidays.....
