For me,irrespective of the weather,Ist march is first day of Spring. Then each season can be 3 months long.

   Works for me.

   Otherwise,ist day of Summer is 21st June then sometimes a lot of Wimbledon tennis tournament takes place in Spring,'n' that's not right.

   Also,Winter begins on shortest day of year? and summer on longest?

   Surely not.
