Like during the World Cup last year my taxi driver son was banned, along with the rest of those licensed by a particular council, from showing the flag of St George on his cab, on the basis that it might offend other races. They were told that their licences would be pulled if they did not comply. Now, that I got direct from my son, not from any newspaper and that ban was NOT rescinded.

It seems to be hard enough to get the English to show any national pride without that sort of nonsense.
